Pavlenishvili responded to the bringing of a new charge against former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and noted that the corruption of the authorities is being exposed.

“For 14 years the ‘National Movement’ has been the main target of dirty propaganda and dirty rumours. Today it has finally been confirmed that Ivanishvili and his regime, who were the authors of this dirty propaganda, are finally talking about their dark intentions because all the charges that were not confirmed against us have been confirmed and they themselves admitted them before they lose power. They talk about the plundering of the army. I remind you that in Georgia the military industry was flourishing and we had modern Georgian armaments. They not only devastated all of this, but it turned out that the Minister of Defence was carrying money in bags into the ministers’ offices. This is how they were plundering the Georgian army. They talked about elite corruption and it turned out that the head of the State Security Service, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Economy - all these people, while performing routine official duties, were carrying this money in bags and giving bribes to one another. Now they have started giving these testimonies against one another. How many such testimonies we will have to listen to in the future, the population already has an idea,” Pavlenishvili stated.

According to him, in reality what the authorities were saying about the “National Movement” has been confirmed about “Georgian Dream.”

“They have already admitted all of this. The final verdict that the Georgian people have issued is to be enforced against Ivanishvili and his regime. You will not succeed in turning this country into a criminal Russian governorate. We will definitely live in a free, legal state. Every corrupt person, every plunderer of the Georgian people, will answer. We, the ‘National Movement,’ which together with the Georgian people will defeat Ivanishvili and his corrupt regime, give you this guarantee. This will happen earlier than many imagine,” Pavlenishvili stated.

For information, a new charge has been brought against the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, who is in detention. The corresponding statement was made at a briefing held at the General Prosecutor’s Office. As Deputy General Prosecutor Amiran Guluashvili stated, the case concerns a corruption crime, specifically the taking of a particularly large amount of money. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, within the framework of the purchase of medical equipment and inventory needed by the Ministry of Defence, Irakli Gharibashvili himself took 750,000 lari in cash as a bribe; in total, the state suffered property damage of 6,985,255 lari and the public interest was substantially violated.
