Resolving relations with Tskhinvali is in Georgia’s interests, Acting Foreign Minister of Occupied Tskhinvali Akhsar Dzhioev said in an interview with Russian media.

“Georgia still does not accept the new geopolitical reality that emerged after August 2008, despite the fact that recognizing the two new states and establishing mutually beneficial relations with them is also in its interests,” Akhsar Dzhioev said.

According to him, “despite occasional statements by the Georgian side about its commitment to peace, contrary rhetoric can be observed, which often has a provocative tone.”

“For South Ossetia, ensuring its own security is of particular importance. This is especially relevant given that Georgia is unwilling to sign, within the framework of the Geneva International Discussions, a legally binding document on the non-use of force against South Ossetia. It is clear that such a position by the Georgian side does not contribute to confidence-building measures or strengthening stability in the region. Nevertheless, we support a dialogue based on equality and respect in the negotiation process,” Dzhioev said.
