Regional Development Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze is resigning from his position and leaving politics. He made the announcement at a briefing currently underway at the Government Administration.

“I have decided to leave my position - and, essentially, politics as well. For me, these 10 years in politics have been 10 years of hard work, devotion to my homeland, and working with friends to accomplish great things for the country. It has been a great privilege to serve alongside the Georgian Dream team. I want to express my deepest gratitude to every soldier, every member and every leader of the Georgian Dream, from Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili to the rank-and-file soldier, as we often call ourselves in this great family,” Mdinaradze said.

Mdinaradze also thanked his family, noting that he wants to devote more attention to them.

“I would, of course, like to thank my family, to whom I want to devote more attention. I will also tell you very sincerely that when you are fully engaged in politics for 10 years and carry maximum responsibility, it is extremely difficult and not an easy undertaking. I want you to appreciate all those people who are always on the front lines of the struggle. It is extremely difficult when this level of responsibility and involvement is carried by people,” Mdinaradze said.

Mdinaradze also noted that he had been considering leaving politics for the past several weeks.
