According to Interpressnews, President Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned Giorgi Kachkachashvili, who was convicted in a separately prosecuted episode of the case concerning the contract killing of businessman Levan Jangveladze for financial gain.

For reference, Giorgi Kachkachashvili was charged under Article 236, Part 6, Subparagraphs “a” and “b” of the Criminal Code, which concerns the illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition by a group.

By a decision of Judge Demetre Jinjolia, he had been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Giorgi Kachkachashvili was among those pardoned by Mikheil Kavelashvili yesterday in connection with the Mariamoba holiday.
