According to Tamaz Elizbarashvili’s lawyer, Iako Kvantaliani, he was kicked out of Tamaz Elizbarashvili’s apartment by law enforcement officers during the search operation.
Kvantaliani was present at the search of Elizbarashvili’s apartment and was covering the process through “Facebook Live,” when a large number of law enforcement officers entered the apartment and asked her to stop filming. After that, Kvantaliani claims, the police officers physically assaulted her.
"They threw me out, locked the door, took my phone, then five policemen started kicking me. I feel very bad. They kicked me in the liver. Five men kicked me together, what kind of country do we live in, people, are these criminals or who are they? We have been through a lot, I have never seen anything like this in my life. I was a lawyer during the previous regime and I am still a lawyer. I have never seen anything like this, a lawyer is being kicked, what is happening, people? What kind of defense are you talking about, they threw me out," the lawyer said.
Tamaz Elizbarashvili was arrested in his own home after his car and apartment were searched. InterpressNews was told by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that the search of Tamaz Elizbarashvili's car was conducted within the framework of the investigation ongoing into the case of threats and illegal purchase and storage of weapons.
