“If Mr. Garibashvili now thinks that, through this series of disclosures, he will escape a fair court ruling, he is very much mistaken. Garibashvili, Kobakhidze and Mdinaradze will face strict prosecution and punishment,” Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of parliament from the For Georgia party, said while commenting on former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s latest letter.

According to him, “Garibashvili’s letter once again demonstrates what a dirty, treacherous, corrupt party, willing to do anything, Georgian Dream has become - a party that once came to power with the support of the majority of the Georgian people.”

“If Mr. Garibashvili now thinks that, through this series of disclosures he has begun, he will escape a fair court ruling, he is very much mistaken. The main point here is that not only Irakli Garibashvili, but also Mr. Mdinaradze and Mr. Kobakhidze, will of course be strictly prosecuted and punished for the numerous crimes they have committed against our country - whether today or tomorrow, under this government or under a new government. They should expect this harsh punishment from the Georgian people and from a government elected by the Georgian people, and they should prepare themselves for it.

As for the other members who remain in Georgian Dream - if they think that the Georgian people do not understand that there are no angels there, and that when their leaders are such criminals, they themselves are somehow different, they are very much mistaken. What expectations could we have from a party with so many agents and so many former members of the United National Movement?! This is the unfortunate reality we are witnessing with the new series of disclosures and denunciations initiated by Garibashvili,” Sharashidze said.

Regarding Garibashvili’s statement that “unanswered questions remain concerning a number of cases of suicide,” the opposition MP said that “Georgian Dream and the United National Movement are worse than each other” and that “the suicides are therefore not surprising.”

“Of course, this first and foremost requires a free and fair investigation. The only thing I can tell you about the suicides is that this once again confirms that the ‘UNM’ and ‘Georgian Dream’ are not merely no different from each other - they are worse than one another. We well remember numerous suicides and murders that occurred under the United National Movement, and that list is now being joined by unexplained and shrouded-in-mystery suicides during the Georgian Dream period.

This is the unfortunate reality: today’s Georgian Dream continues, in many respects, the methods and modus operandi of the United National Movement. Since we know, and the Georgian people understand, that there is now no difference whatsoever between Georgian Dream and the United National Movement, and that they are worse than each other, unfortunately, these suicides are not surprising. Georgian Dream is continuing along the same path and using the same methods that characterized the United National Movement,” Sharashidze said.

For reference, former Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili published another letter from prison, in which he mentioned former party colleagues - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Mamuka Mdinaradze, who announced several days ago that he was leaving politics.

Garibashvili said that the public had already become convinced that the letter he published, which he said had been sent to him by his former colleague Mamuka Mdinaradze, was authentic and that the facts mentioned in it were true.

According to the former prime minister, Mdinaradze “made such serious and gross mistakes in this matter that this resulted not only in his removal from office but also in his departure from politics.”

“However, I want to make my position clear to the public: removing Mdinaradze from politics cannot erase the grave and irreparable damage inflicted on the country, the people, and Georgian Dream with his and Irakli Kobakhidze’s participation,” the former prime minister said.

In his lengthy letter, Irakli Garibashvili also asks, “What was the real cause of human rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze’s death?” He also says that “unanswered questions remain in society to this day concerning a number of cases of suicide that occurred during the Kobakhidze-Mdinaradze leadership.”
