The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has filed charges of threat against Tamaz Elizbarashvili. Elizbarashvili has been charged under the Criminal Code.

In particular, according to the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on August 30 of this year, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Tamaz Elizbarashvili and one of the victims met by chance in a restaurant in Tbilisi, during which a verbal conflict arose between them regarding a comment Tamaz Elizbarashvili had made about the latter and his family on social media in the past. According to the investigation, during the verbal conflict, Tamaz Elizbarashvili threatened the victim and the people with him. Specifically, he told them that he wouldn't leave the matter like that, that he would be back in about 30 minutes, and that they shouldn't leave the restaurant area.

“Since the victims knew that Tamaz Elizbarashvili possessed a weapon that he could use against them, they had a well-founded fear of death and injury to their health, which is why they decided to leave the restaurant.

At approximately 00:20, Tamaz Elizbarashvili returned to the scene of the incident with the intention of carrying out the threat, at which time he had his hand demonstratively placed in the groin of the dresser, was armed and tried to enter the restaurant. He also continued to threaten and swear at the victims. Some of the victims, who did not have time to leave the scene of the incident and were in the vicinity of the restaurant, had a well-founded fear of carrying out the threat. Despite the prohibition of the security guards, Tamaz Elizbarashvili nevertheless entered the restaurant’s territory. After making sure that the victims were no longer there, he left the indicated area,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The Prosecutor’s Office also adds that on August 31, Tamaz Elizbarashvili posted a status and a video appeal on social media, where he continued to threaten and demand an apology.

"The victims of these actions have developed a well-founded fear of harm to their health and life," reads the statement.

For information, Tamaz Elizbarashvili has already been detained at his own home for actions provided for by the Code of Administrative Offenses, namely, disobeying a lawful request of a police officer.
