Questioning based on public statements made regarding the death of Lazare Jorbenadze will continue today.

Today, at the Tbilisi City Court, in the presence of a magistrate judge, Tazo Datunashvili, one of the leaders of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” and Khatia Dekanoidze, one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” will be questioned.

According to available information, journalist Nanuka Zhorzholiani will also appear at the court for questioning.

The case concerns the death of human rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze. Questions regarding his death were initially raised by former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. In a letter released from prison, Garibashvili wrote: “Unanswered questions still remain in society regarding the cases of suicide of several people that took place during the rule of Kobakhidze and Mdinaradze.”

In response, the Prosecutor’s Office released a statement confirming that Lazare Jorbenadze had died by suicide. Despite this, according to the agency, based on public statements made by convicted former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and other individuals, the Ministry of Internal Affairs summoned the following people for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office: Nika Gvaramia, Irma Inashvili, Nanuka Zhorzholiani, Khatia Dekanoidze, Tazo Datunashvili, Gia Khukhashvili, Giorgi Liluashvili, Zaza Davitaia, Ermile Nemsadze, and Giorgi Gigauri.

Some of them were already questioned by the investigative authorities yesterday.
