According to Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze, the medication “Givinostat,” used to treat children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, will arrive in Tbilisi at the beginning of next week.

He made the statement at a briefing held today.

“On July 31, an agreement was signed with the Italian company Italfarmaco, the manufacturer of Givinostat, regarding Georgia’s purchase of the medication. An air waybill confirming the shipment of Givinostat to Georgia has already been provided, confirming that the medication will arrive in Tbilisi at the beginning of next week,” Sarjveladze said.

He also noted that the process concerning another medication for the treatment of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy is also progressing successfully.

“Negotiations on all essential commercial issues have been completed. Prior to that, all necessary legal acts were prepared and issued, and full readiness to sign the agreement was confirmed. We are now waiting for the company, and we are confident that the agreement to purchase this medication will be signed in the coming days,” Sarjveladze said.
