The volunteer unit "Georgievsky" has been formed in Russia, the unit's commander, former Prosecutor General of Georgia Otar Romanov-Partskhaladze, told the Russian state-run TASS news agency.

“It was the Russian Mikhail Egorov and the Georgian Meliton Kantaria who raised the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in 1945. Every fourth of my compatriots fought for freedom. I am sure that just as then, the Russian and Georgian will raise the symbol of the destruction of the enemy again. Our like-minded people and supporters, who are advocates of the unification of our peoples and countries, as well as the protection of traditional family values, have created the “Georgievsky” international unit,” Partskhaladze said.

According to him, the name of the unit is associated with the Treaty of Georgievsk, “which played a huge role in the history of the Georgian people.”

“The main task of the unit is to complete the fight against the evil that threatens not only us, but the whole world,” the former Prosecutor General of Georgia noted.

Also, according to Partskhaladze, he made the decision to fight on the side of Russia against Ukraine of his own free will.

"Today, when Russia is fighting against Western pressure to preserve its identity, traditions, language and culture, I am ready to help the homeland achieve all the goals set by its leader," Partskhaladze said.
