"Unfortunately, there are individuals within the EU leadership who are deliberately undermining the European Union and its foundations, acting against the EU's own interests," Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliament's Legal Issues Committee, stated while speaking with journalists. He responded to a statement by Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, who said that countries aspiring to join the EU must sever ties with Donald Trump's MAGA movement in order to become members of the organization.

According to him, this statement by Marta Kos serves as further confirmation of the position held by the current US administration—that, regrettably, "the European Union stands on the brink of a civilizational abyss." If we are to believe Marta Kos, every EU member state is severing ties with the United States. After all, what other logic is there in forbidding candidate countries from engaging with the current US administration while EU member states continue to do so? This statement serves to highlight Marta Kos's lack of respect for the sovereignty of other nations. Euro-bureaucrats claim that candidate countries will have no voice once they join the EU; yet, even before they become members, preconditions are imposed—specifically, that they must not pursue an independent foreign policy. This further confirms the position held by the current US administration: that the European Union, regrettably, stands on the brink of a civilizational abyss.
