Levan Khabeishvili restored the Georgian people's belief in victory—the belief that Ivanishvili’s Russian regime could be ousted through protest and resistance. It was precisely because he restored this revolutionary conviction that Ivanishvili’s regime imprisoned him. This statement was made by Irakli Pavlenishvili, Chairman of the Governing Council of the United National Movement, alongside other party leaders, outside the State Security Service, where they held a briefing marking the one-year anniversary of Levan Khabeishvili’s arrest.
According to him, the struggle for Georgia's freedom—waged by Levan Khabeishvili together with the Georgian people—will inevitably end in victory, and all corrupt individuals and criminals will be punished.
"A year has passed since the arrest of Levan Khabeishvili, our party leader. Levan Khabeishvili is imprisoned on charges unprecedented in the history of Georgia; he is being prosecuted for a political statement, and the judge did not even hide in the ruling that Levan Khabeishvili was jailed solely due to political confrontation.
What is the reason for this unprecedented persecution—an instance unlike anything seen even within Ivanishvili’s repressive system? It is Levan Khabeishvili’s anti-corruption work—the fact that he is the most effective fighter against Ivanishvili’s corrupt, criminal schemes. It was Levan Khabeishvili who exposed the most significant criminal schemes: how Georgia is being used to circumvent sanctions, and how the State Security Service (SUS) building was transformed into a major call center.
Furthermore—and this is crucial—Levan Khabeishvili exposed specific oligarchs and members of Ivanishvili’s inner circle for crimes they had been committing for years, bringing to light the filth circulating within Ivanishvili’s regime. In doing so, of course, he was undermining Ivanishvili’s regime," stated Irakli Pavlenishvili.
