“He previously went to England to study and is currently in the 12th grade. His mother is abroad, and he was raised by his grandmother,” said Giorgi Dzidziguri, the lawyer of the minor accused of murdering 17-year-old Davit Narimanidze on Khudadov Street.

According to the lawyer, his client regrets what happened.

“Given the interests of the case and the fact that the defendant admits to the criminal act he committed, we agreed to the imposition of a pre-trial measure. He repents and regrets what happened, is deeply distressed and is in a state of shock. He genuinely regrets his actions.

As for what happened, the defendant does not speak to us about it. The information circulated in the media that the victim’s throat had been cut, that he had lain there for several hours without anyone helping him, is false. The incident happened within seconds. Police arrived shortly afterward, 112 had been called, and the ambulance also arrived quickly, but unfortunately, the outcome was fatal.

As far as I know, my client is currently under bail in connection with a theft case, although I was not his lawyer in that case.

The defendant is barely communicating with us. He previously went to England to study and is currently in the 12th grade. I cannot tell you why he did not continue his studies in England. He returned and was raised by his grandmother. His mother is abroad, and he grew up with his grandmother. She did everything she could to supervise her grandson and keep him on the right path. She did everything possible to provide him with the best she could,” Dzidziguri said.

The Tbilisi City Court remanded D.P., the minor detained in connection with the aggravated murder of 17-year-old Davit Narimanidze on Khudadov Street in Tbilisi, in custody as a pre-trial measure.

For reference, D.P. has been charged under Subparagraph “f” of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia - intentional murder committed with a hooligan motive - which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
