“We are witnessing a rat race and internal power struggles at Ivanishvili’s court - Mdinaradze’s fate is in Ivanishvili’s hands. If Liluashvili and Garibashvili are in prison, why couldn’t Mdinaradze also be in prison?” Giorgi Sioridze, a member of Lelo - Strong Georgia, said on PalitraNews’ program "Day’s Newsroom".
According to him, what happened to Mdinaradze is “a classic example of how a system devours its own offspring.”
“This is not something unique to Georgian Dream. The Soviet system also devoured its own co-creators in this way. We are witnessing a rat race and internal power struggles at Ivanishvili’s court. We saw that Irakli Garibashvili was prime minister for the longest time, a pillar and one of the main figures of the propaganda system. Now we see what kind of reports their main propaganda channel is producing about him. We will probably see the same with Mamuka Mdinaradze.
They first appointed Mdinaradze as head of the State Security Service, calling him an excellent manager, and promoted him to major general. Mdinaradze’s fate is in Ivanishvili’s hands. We may see the same thing happen to him as we saw with Garibashvili, including ending up in prison - why not?! If Liluashvili and Garibashvili are in prison, why couldn’t Mdinaradze also be in prison, just as they used to deal with the old Bolsheviks?” Sioridze said.
He also commented on the arrest of Giorgi Baramidze, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, on charges of treason against the homeland, specifically sabotage.
According to Giorgi Sioridze, “Georgian Dream is leading us toward the Kremlin, not only through arrests but also through what is happening in the country,” while Baramidze was the only remaining politician who had been convicted by the Russian “fascist federation.”
“It is unacceptable and reckless if someone deliberately makes a treasonous statement, whoever that person may be - whether it is Kobakhidze or any opposition figure. It is also important who is making such statements and who is arresting people in this country - people who betray the homeland every day, who make flattering statements toward Russia in their own statements and briefings.
Giorgi Baramidze was practically the only remaining politician who had been convicted by the Russian fascist federation. Every other Georgian politician, including those at ministerial level and beyond, who were sentenced to imprisonment by the Russian fascist federation or its satellite entities and separatist regimes because of Ukraine, has been imprisoned by the Georgian authorities.
Georgian Dream is leading us toward the Kremlin, not only through arrests but also through what is happening in the country. The country’s foreign policy course has changed; textbooks are now being changed, history is being rewritten, and when the country’s highest official makes statements about rewriting history and holds a special briefing on the Treaty of Georgievsk, that is deeply concerning.
When such a statement is made - one that harms Georgia, whether intentionally and deliberately or simply objectively harms national interests - it is categorically unacceptable. When it comes from the state, and when we have the Murusidze-Chinchaladze judiciary, while the government and its leaders themselves commit acts of treason, this makes the issue extremely problematic.
The possibility and perception of a fair trial in Georgia is zero. No one can be held accountable when all of this is happening under the system associated with Murusidze and Chinchaladze. I do not want to go into the legal details; the fact itself is unacceptable and must be condemned,” Giorgi Sioridze said.
