Tazo Datunashvili believes that the internal clan struggle is continuing and that “dark clouds have gathered over Mamuka Mdinaradze and his clan.”

For reference, Gela Geladze has resigned as head of the State Security Service. Parliament approved Geladze as head of the State Security Service for a six-year term on April 28 of this year.

Before Geladze, the State Security Service was headed by Mamuka Mdinaradze, who also resigned before the end of his term. Parliament elected Mdinaradze as head of the State Security Service on September 3, 2025, and he left the position in April 2026.

The tenure of another Georgian Dream representative, Anri Okhanashvili, as head of the State Security Service was also brief. Okhanashvili headed the Service for approximately five months and also resigned before the end of his term in August 2025.
