The ministries of regional development and infrastructure are being merged and will again form a single agency - the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is being created within the government. At the same time, the post of State Minister for Coordination of Law-Enforcement Agencies is being abolished.

In this regard, a new version of amendments to the Law of Georgia on the Structure, Powers and Rules of Activity of the Government, and the projects deriving from it, have already been submitted to the Parliamentary Bureau. The legislative package will be considered under an accelerated procedure.

Under the same project, the Government Administration will be assigned the function of coordinating and facilitating relations with state representatives and municipal bodies.

As a reminder, the head of government had previously submitted a completely different initiative regarding changes to the government structure. At the opening of Parliament’s autumn session, at the very first Bureau meeting, a government legislative package was submitted that provided for the creation of a new position within the government - the post of State Minister for Regional Policy Issues. The position of State Minister for Regional Policy Issues was to be created on the basis of the Ministry of Regional Development, but the government withdrew the project that had been initiated in Parliament.

As is known, the post of State Minister for Regional Policy Issues was to have been occupied by Mamuka Mdinaradze. Mdinaradze left the government and also made a statement about leaving politics.
