The ALDE Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is calling for the immediate release of Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria from detention. ALDE President Iulian Bulai wrote about the above on social media.

"One year has passed since the detention of 'Droa' party leader Elene Khoshtaria for writing 'Russian Dream' on a 'Georgian Dream' banner. Amnesty International considers the 18-month prison sentence imposed on her to be politically motivated. We demand her immediate release," writes Iulian Bulai.

The Tbilisi City Court found politician and Droa leader Elene Khoshtaria guilty of damaging Kakha Kaladze's election banner. Under the verdict delivered by Judge Giorgi Arevadze, Elene Khoshtaria was sentenced to one year and six months in prison.
