Giorgi Zakarashvili has been appointed as Georgia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan

Giorgi Zakarashvili has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released the information.

According to the ministry, Giorgi Zakarashvili has many years of experience working at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in diplomatic missions.

“From 2021 to the present, he has served as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to GUAM. From 2016 to 2019, he served as Georgia’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Section of Georgian Interests at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation, while from 2012 to 2016, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine and Georgia’s Permanent Mission to GUAM.

At various times, Giorgi Zakarashvili also served as Director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Division for Relations with the Countries of Central Asia.

Giorgi Zakarashvili holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary,” the statement said.
