In the second quarter of 2026, Georgia’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices amounted to GEL 28,147.0 million, while real GDP growth compared with the same period of the previous year stood at 6.9%. The percentage change in the GDP deflator in the second quarter of 2026 was 3.0%, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
According to the agency, the following sectors made significant contributions to economic growth in the second quarter of 2026: information and communication (16.6%), wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (8.0%), transportation and storage (19.8%), arts, entertainment and recreation (17.4%), manufacturing (7.3%), and human health and social work activities (15.0%).
The sectors that made significant negative contributions included construction (-4.8%) and agriculture, forestry and fishing (-3.5%).
“In the sectoral structure of GDP, the largest shares are accounted for by wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (14.9%) and real estate activities (9.1%). They are followed by manufacturing (8.9%), information and communication (7.6%), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (6.5%), construction (6.5%), agriculture, forestry and fishing (6.4%), education (6.4%), and transportation and storage (6.3%).
“Quarterly GDP is calculated based on monthly and quarterly data. The results of the annual survey generally differ from the data of the quarterly survey. Accordingly, quarterly GDP figures need to be revised based on the results of the annual survey.
“After the annual data for the previous year become available, in addition to revising the figures for the four quarters of that year, the figures for the first and second quarters of the current year are also recalculated. After the 2025 annual data are received in November 2026, the quarterly figures for 2025 will be finalized.
“Note: The revised data will be published on November 13, 2026,” the statement said.
