According to Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze, more than 100 children had to be hospitalized following an incident of intoxication in kindergartens.

Sarjveladze told reporters that none of the children’s conditions carried a risk of complications.

"The number of children requiring hospitalization exceeded 100; however, fortunately, none of their conditions were such that they required emergency attention due to an anticipated risk of complications," Sarjveladze stated.

He added that an investigation would determine the cause of the incident.

"A thorough investigation will reveal what happened, and responsible person, if any, will be held accountable.

I see no grounds for criticizing the National Food Agency. I wonder why the regulatory body should be held responsible when it is performing its oversight duties," Sarjveladze said.
