The European Union Delegation to Georgia has issued a statement regarding the activities of the European Union Monitoring Mission.

The statement notes that the European Union firmly supports Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and remains committed to peace, security, and stability in Georgia.

"In the aftermath of the August 2008 war, EU committed to an international monitoring mission in Georgia. Within weeks, European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) was on the ground, helping stabilise the situation and reduce the risk of renewed hostilities.

18 years later, EUMM continues to patrol day and night. And perhaps one measure of its success is that much of its work goes unnoticed: When tensions are contained, incidents do not escalate and communities can continue their daily lives, there is rarely a headline. Yet supporting this stability requires continuous work and presence on the ground.
