Tamaz Shubitidze will head the Special Operations Department of Georgia’s State Security Service.

The State Security Service has released information to this effect.

According to the agency, the new director was introduced to the department’s personnel by State Security Service Head Tamaz Borashvili, together with his deputies. Borashvili congratulated Shubitidze on his appointment and wished him success in his future activities.

The agency explains that the new director of the Special Operations Department, Tamaz Shubitidze, has many years of experience working in the law enforcement system, including seven years in the department, where he held various positions. Before his appointment to the new post, Shubitidze served as Deputy Director of the Special Assignments Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The Head of the Service stated that over the course of many years, Tamaz Shubitidze has progressed through various levels of his career within the Special Operations Department, which will further enhance the effectiveness of the unit’s activities in the future.

“Tamaz Borashvili also thanked the former head of the Special Operations Department, Roman Kartsivadze, for his service.

“The new director of the Special Operations Department, Tamaz Shubitidze, has many years of experience working in the law enforcement system, including seven years in the aforementioned department, where he held various positions. Before his appointment to the new post, Tamaz Shubitidze served as Deputy Director of the Special Assignments Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” the statement reads.
