On September 21, Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, participated in the annual Concordia Summit held as part of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

According to the ministry, during the panel discussion titled “Southeastern Europe and the Black Sea as a Pillar of Stability,” Maka Botchorishvili spoke about Georgia’s growing geopolitical role, its partnership with the United States, European integration, and the country’s economic development.

As Maka Botchorishvili noted, the importance of the South Caucasus is growing not only from a regional but also from a global perspective, creating new opportunities for Georgia.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasized the importance of developments in the wider region for the United States and, in this context, highlighted the longstanding partnership between Georgia and the United States.

“Georgia has contributed to missions conducted under the auspices of the United States and NATO for many years. We are proud of the partnership we have built over these decades,” Maka Botchorishvili said.

According to the ministry, the Foreign Minister also spoke about developments in the South Caucasus and Georgia’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region, stating that “Georgia has always played an important role in promoting peace in the region and resolving conflicts through peaceful means.”

According to her, developments in the region and U.S. involvement in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia are creating new opportunities for the region.

The Foreign Minister also spoke about Georgia’s European aspirations and relations with the European Union.

“For Georgia, European integration and relations with the European Union are an emotional issue and are closely linked to Georgia’s history and its longstanding aspiration to become part of Europe and, in this case, part of the European Union.”

“In the current geopolitical context, a situation is emerging in which Georgia has a fairly important geopolitical role, which, in turn, requires the development of various partnerships. However, this does not mean that we are replacing our aspiration to become a member of the European Union,” the Vice Prime Minister said.

The Foreign Minister also spoke about the country’s economic development. According to her, Georgia has recorded high rates of economic growth in recent years, creating opportunities to attract new projects and investments.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Maka Botchorishvili emphasized the importance of maintaining security and stability in the country.

“This has been a very difficult period for our region, but we are proud that we have managed to maintain security and stability in our country. This is precisely what creates the foundation for economic development and for further deepening cooperation in the future,” the Foreign Minister said, according to the statement released by the ministry.

The panel discussion was also attended by North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski. The session was moderated by Simeon Tsomokos, President of the Delphi Economic Forum.
