Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Fu Jun, Chairman of the major Chinese automaker BAIC International, at the company's headquarters, the Ministry of Economy reports.

According to the statement, the Minister presented a study—commissioned by the Georgian Economic Development Corporation—on the feasibility of establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country and highlighted prospects for cooperation with BAIC International. The meeting addressed the export potential of electric vehicles—should they be manufactured in Georgia—including to European markets within the framework of free trade agreements.

The parties agreed that the Chinese company would dispatch a working group to Georgia to facilitate a bilateral collaborative process.

Emphasis was placed on the success the Chinese automaker has achieved in both domestic and international markets. For its part, BAIC International outlined the company's strategic development directions and discussed opportunities to expand its operations and geographical reach internationally.

At BAIC International’s headquarters, the company’s Chairman presented the vehicles it manufactures to the Minister and the members of the delegation.

Deputy Ministers Irakli Nadareishvili, Tamar Ioseliani, and Genadi Arveladze also attended the meeting," reads the statement.
