Shalva Kereselidze: Giorgi Khojevanishvili is afraid that he will be reprimanded, that he will be persecuted, that his past sins will be brought up, and that he will be arrested - Kambolov will take the court ruling in the “Chorchana case” everywhere and wave it at every international tribunal

“[Giorgi Khojevanishvili] is afraid that he will be reprimanded. They are afraid of persecution, of being arrested, of someone having their business taken away, of their past sins being brought up, of being imprisoned,” - Shalva Kereselidze, chairman of the parliamentary faction “For Georgia,” explains the fact that several former high-ranking officials, including former governor of Shida Kartli Giorgi Khojevanishvili, said during questioning over the so-called Chorchana issue that they had no information about the construction of the checkpoint.

As Shalva Kereselidze said on PalitraNews’ program “Day's Newsroom,” according to this logic, it turns out that officials actually represented nothing while in government.

He also claims that “everyone knew everything.”

“How can you imagine that the process of setting up a checkpoint was underway in the village of Chorchana, funds were allocated from the Georgian state budget, a road was being built, gasification was underway, the issue was discussed at a government meeting, and at such a time the State Security Service, counterintelligence, the Ministry of Defense and the Prime Minister knew nothing?! The local population knew everything. I was the governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and I knew that such activities were taking place in Chorchana. In reality, they had the information. Yet these officials come forward and say that they did not know.

It turns out that those who gave such testimony — the former governor of Shida Kartli, the former head of the Government Administration, the head of the State Security Service, and the head of counterintelligence — were actually nobody. They are insulting themselves; that is, they claim they represented nothing in government when they say they had no information about the establishment of the Chorchana checkpoint. Everyone knew everything very well. Now they are afraid and do not dare to speak up and say, ‘Yes, we knew about this issue.’

[As for Giorgi Khojevanishvili], he is afraid of persecution, afraid that he will be reprimanded and arrested. They are afraid that someone might take away their business, bring up their past sins, or imprison them. It is the government’s intention to fabricate charges in the ‘Chorchana case,’ and that is exactly what is happening. They are afraid that the state will turn against them and punish them. They prefer criminal silence. The time will come when the truth about the ‘Chorchana case’ will be revealed, and each of them will have to answer for this criminal silence,” Kereselidze said.

According to him, the court ruling in the “Chorchana case” will become the basis for removing the checkpoint from the village of Chorchana and incorporating it into the occupation regime.

“The court proceedings in the ‘Chorchana case’ have accelerated significantly. The government is trying to conclude this case as quickly as possible and have the court issue the decision it wants.

The decision that the government will have the court issue will constitute a crime committed against its own country, for which not only the judge will be held accountable, but everyone — each and every person involved in the fabricated charges.

The elections in the territory of historical Samachablo have ended. The so-called president, who was sent by the Russian Federation and won, was given two tasks by Russia. The first was the return of the village of Chorchana to the occupation regime and the unification of North and ‘South Ossetia,’ a promise that the presidential candidate made to the electorate. It turns out that, through the court’s decision, the Georgian government has helped fulfill the first promise he made to the population. Kambolov will take this court decision everywhere and wave it at every international tribunal; Russia itself will also use it. This decision will become the basis for removing the checkpoint from the village of Chorchana and incorporating it into the occupation regime.

The Georgian government will be supporting Kambolov’s electoral promise. The second task remains — holding a referendum and uniting North and South Ossetia within the Russian Federation. When a government issues such an order at such a time because of personal ambitions and resentment, this is called treason against the homeland and the state,” Shalva Kereselidze said.
