“There is currently no strong likelihood that the charges will be aggravated, as an investigation into the alleged violence against Tamaz Elizbarashvili must first begin, after which it must be established whether Tamaz Elizbarashvili is telling the truth. I expect Shalva Kuchashvili to be charged under the article concerning violence,” the lawyer of businessman Tamaz Elizbarashvili, who was detained on charges of making threats, told InterPressNews.

According to the lawyer, Tamaz Elizbarashvili had visible injuries, and they are awaiting the results of a forensic examination.

“Tamaz Elizbarashvili provided investigators with information that Shalva Kuchashvili physically assaulted him and physically attacked him several times. However, the victim’s account was considered to be false. The investigation will now establish whether the information provided by Tamaz Elizbarashvili is true.

“Tamaz Elizbarashvili had injuries. We commissioned and conducted a forensic examination and are awaiting the results.

“There is currently no strong likelihood that the charges will be aggravated, as an investigation into the alleged violence against Tamaz Elizbarashvili must first begin, after which it must be established whether Tamaz Elizbarashvili is telling the truth. I do not expect the charges against Tamaz Elizbarashvili to be aggravated. On the contrary, I expect Shalva Kuchashvili to be charged under the article concerning violence,” lawyer Lekso Svimonishvili said.

For reference, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged Tamaz Elizbarashvili with making threats. According to the investigation, on August 30 of this year, a verbal altercation occurred between Elizbarashvili and the victim at a restaurant in Tbilisi over a comment posted on social media.

According to the agency, Elizbarashvili threatened the victims with death and physical harm, and later returned to the location armed, allegedly intending to carry out the threats, and attempted to enter the restaurant.

The Prosecutor’s Office also said that on August 31, the accused published a video statement on social media in which he continued making threats.
