“Papuashvili’s visit to Europe is not related to any desire to improve relations with the European Union; rather, it is preparation for escalation. It is clear that they have two objectives: to blame the European Union for the termination of relations with the EU and to avoid facing protests from the public, including their own supporters,” Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the Droa party, said in a statement published on social media.

According to Khoshtaria, a major anti-Russian protest is inevitable this autumn.

“Papuashvili’s visit to Europe is not about any desire to improve relations with the European Union; rather, it is preparation for escalation.

“It is clear that they have two objectives: to blame the European Union for the termination of relations with the EU and to avoid facing protests from the public, including their own supporters.

“Therefore, I am convinced that this visit serves only to allow them to return and say, ‘Look, we did everything.’ Most importantly, I am convinced that they know that the European Union will make serious decisions this autumn, which will lead to public dissatisfaction.

“Therefore, on the one hand, this is another indication that Georgian Dream is in a difficult position, while on the other hand, the most important thing is that we, as society, do not fall under the influence of their manipulation and tricks and are prepared for this stage of escalation.

“We must be prepared both for the European Union’s decisions and for Georgian Dream’s propaganda-based, falsehood-driven actions, and possibly for intensified repression as well.

“Being prepared means establishing communication among all protest groups in advance to discuss possible scenarios. Communication should take place with opposition, activist and civic groups. It is necessary to consider different options and plan actions.

“A major anti-Russian protest this autumn is inevitable, and this is very important to demonstrate to Russia,” Khoshtaria wrote.
