Staff from the Special Penitentiary Service’s External Security and Information-Technical Support Department have thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Penitentiary Facility No. 17.

According to the Special Penitentiary Service, a family member of one of the inmates—who was entering the facility for a scheduled visit—has been implicated in the alleged offense. "In connection with the incident, the Special Penitentiary Service immediately handed over the relevant materials to the investigative agency for legal action.

The Service urges individuals entering penitentiary facilities to refrain from attempting to bring in prohibited items or substances. Penitentiary facilities are equipped with appropriate security systems and control mechanisms, and the detection of such illegal acts results in legal action as prescribed by law," reads the statement.
