Former Deputy Head of Revenue Service Vladimir Khundadze sentenced to one year and six months in prison

The court found Vladimir Khundadze, the former Deputy Head of the Revenue Service, guilty of abuse of official authority.

According to a statement released by the Prosecutor's Office, Vladimir Khundadze was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. Evidence examined during the court proceedings confirmed that Vladimir Khundadze—who held the position of Deputy Head of the Revenue Service during the first half of 2025—had a personal acquaintance with Borisi Gogichaishvili. Gogichaishvili, together with accomplices, was illegally manufacturing and storing alcoholic beverages (whiskey and vodka) in the city of Gori, utilizing the trademarks of foreign brands.

To ensure the safe importation into Georgia of various products required for manufacturing these alcoholic beverages, B. Gogichaishvili sought the assistance of Vladimir Khundadze, whose official duties included the control and supervision of customs procedures.

Vladimir Khundadze regularly provided instructions to Borisi Gogichaishvili regarding the appropriate timing for importing and clearing the goods through customs; he also specified the details to be declared during customs clearance to ensure the process proceeded without risk of detection or interference.

Consequently, during the first half of 2025, Gogichaishvili was able to bring the goods into Georgia without any hindrance. He imported products required for the manufacture of alcoholic beverages, such as specially packaged glass bottles, labels, corks, and other items.

Furthermore, Khundadze was aware of the crimes being committed by Gogichaishvili and his associates. Despite this, he failed to take appropriate official action or notify other state agencies regarding the serious crime.

Khundadze was charged under Article 332, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and was remanded in custody as a preventive measure.

The Tbilisi City Court found Khundadze guilty of the charge and sentenced him to one year and six months of imprisonment," reads the information released by the Prosecutor's Office.
