Irakli Pavlenishvili – Thirty-three years have passed since the occupation of Sokhumi, yet Georgia has not fallen and continues the fight; with strong allies, we will return to Sokhumi and Tskhinvali—and this will happen sooner than our enemies imagine

Thirty-three years have passed since the occupation and fall of Sokhumi. However, Georgia has not fallen—it continues the struggle, and we will certainly return to Sokhumi and Tskhinvali, - Irakli Pavlenishvili, Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Movement, told journalists at the Heroes' Memorial.

According to him, returning to Sokhumi and Abkhazia requires a strong Georgian state, strong partners and strong natural allies.

“Thirty-three years have passed since the occupation and fall of Sokhumi, yet Georgia has not fallen—it continues the fight, and we will certainly return to Sokhumi and Tskhinvali. Of course, this requires a strong Georgian state, strong partners, and strong natural allies—not an isolated or sanctioned one. It is also crucial that we do not plunder the army but, on the contrary, strengthen the Georgian military and economy. This is precisely the geopolitical moment when, with strong allies, we will indeed return to Sokhumi and Tskhinvali. This will happen sooner than Georgia’s enemies imagine. Naturally, this will not happen through apologies,” stated Pavlenishvili.
