The European Union firmly supports Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful resolution of the conflict, reads a press release of the EU Delegation to Georgia marking the anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi.

"27 September, marking the fall of Sukhumi, remains one of the most tragic days in Georgia’s recent history.

We honour the memory of those who lost their lives in the war and think of those who are still unable to return to their homes.
