Megis Kardava, former head of the Military Police Department and a convicted defendant in the so-called “Barrels Case,” was also found guilty by the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.
The Court of Appeals upheld the first-instance court’s ruling, under which Megis Kardava was sentenced to nine years in prison.
For reference, the former head of the Military Police Department, convicted Megis Kardava, was charged in the so-called “Barrels Case” with other forms of sexual violence, torture and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
