Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zourabichvili, met with representatives of the diplomatic community in Paris, France. She shared this information via social media.
The President also emphasized the need for the diplomatic corps to adopt more active and clearly defined positions.
She noted that the conduct of the authorities often prompts new diplomats to exercise caution, whereas the public within the country needs to hear a firm, Western voice.
"There is no doubt that we need more energetic and less constrained diplomats. New arrivals see how the authorities treat those who have voiced their protest, so they try to adapt to the situation and act carefully. Diplomats are the very people the public sees and hears. The population needs to see a firm, European voice making itself heard in the country," writes Salome Zourabichvili.
