By-elections for local councils (Sakrebulo) are taking place in the Vani, Tsalka, Dmanisi, and Akhmeta municipalities of Georgia.
The elections are being conducted under the majoritarian system.
Polling stations opened at 8:00 AM.
Voters will elect four majoritarian members to the local councils of these municipalities. A total of seven polling stations have been opened across the four electoral districts for the by-elections, including four in Tsalka. Polling stations are open in the following locations: the village of Kasristskali (Akhmeta); between the villages of Velispiri and Ganakhleba (Dmanisi); the villages of Imera, Bareti, Sabechisi, and Livadi (Tsalka); and the village of Pereta (Vani).
Both electronic and traditional voting methods are being used. Electronic verification and vote-counting machines will be utilized at three polling stations in Tsalka and one in Vani.
The total number of voters is 2,225. Fifty voters have requested a mobile ballot box from the election administration.
Seven majoritarian candidates nominated by two political parties are registered for the election. Candidates representing the electoral entities Georgian Dream and Strong Georgia – Lelo are registered in Dmanisi, Tsalka, and Vani, while only a Georgian Dream candidate is registered in Akhmeta.
Polling stations will close at 8:00 PM.
