Giorgi Davitadze's family arrives at Rustavi Penitentiary Establishment No. 6; according to his mother, the inmate was allegedly subjected to pressure and swallowed an unidentified object in an act of protest

The family of inmate Giorgi Davitadze has arrived at Rustavi Penitentiary Establishment No. 6.
As Davitadze's mother, Irma Davitadze, stated in a Facebook Live broadcast, her son swallowed a object "in an act of protest," allegedly due to pressure exerted upon him.
"He was likely subjected to pressure because of our activism. He swallowed an object in protest, and as a result, my son's condition is poor. Take immediate measures so that nothing happens to my son; otherwise, I don't know what may occur. I will not stop fighting!" declared Irma Davitadze.
Earlier, speaking to InterPressNews, the family called upon the Public Defender to take action. According to a statement by the Special Penitentiary Service, convict Giorgi Davitadze summoned a staff member of the penitentiary administration and, in their presence—and within view of a surveillance camera—demonstratively swallowed a small, unidentified object. The agency explained that, in light of this, and to monitor his health status, Davitadze was offered a be transferred to the civilian clinic "Vivamedi," a proposal he categorically refused.
It is worth recalling that, in a statement made at the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, convict Giorgi Davitadze accused an escort officer from Penitentiary Establishment No. 6 of rape. He claimed the incident took place in a de-escalation room, involved several individuals, and asserted that "everything is visible on the cameras." The Special Penitentiary Service responded to the matter, dismissing the claim as disinformation. According to the Penitentiary Service, "no violence of any kind—let alone sexual violence—was committed against Davitadze."
