Gia Volski: ALDE has many sins against us

ALDE has many sins against us: primarily, its attitude toward the country and the youth, and its constant calls for bloodshed and for involving young people in that process. The fact that they are demanding sanctions is, of course, nothing new to us—this is what First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski told journalists.

According to him, ALDE is an anti-Georgian force.

"ALDE has committed many transgressions against us: primarily, its attitude toward the country and its youth, and its constant calls for bloodshed and for young people to be drawn into that process. There is also the insistence that not a single cent entering Georgia should be transparent to the public or to the relevant authorities, and the general view that the Georgian government should be overthrown through revolution. They employ various methods to achieve this goal. As a leading party alliance within European structures, ALDE holds the same position as others. However, a counter-position has already emerged—both in Europe and, crucially, in Georgia. The public has clearly understood and assessed the true nature of ALDE and any political forces associated with it; it is an anti-Georgian force. Naturally, their calls for sanctions come as no surprise to us," stated Gia Volski.

For the record, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party) is calling on the European Union to impose targeted sanctions on individuals responsible for repression and the undermining of democracy in Georgia. ALDE President Svenja Hahn and European Liberal Forum President Jan-Christoph Oetjen addressed a letter regarding this matter to Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement.
