Giorgi Davitaze’s mother: Let all the perpetrators of violence resign - Pataridze, Trapaidze, and his executioners as well! You are carefully hiding it for now, but that mine is going to explode in your faces!

“Let all those responsible for violence resign - Pataridze, Trapaidze, and his executioners as well! This is my demand. This is not an isolated case; there are numerous cases in prisons. You are carefully hiding it for now, but that mine you are sitting on will explode,” Irma Davitadze, the mother of convicted prisoner Giorgi Davitadze, said at a protest taking place outside the Special Penitentiary Service.
According to her, they requested an expert examination as early as a year ago.
“An attorney came and filed a statement about the violence that was taking place in the penitentiary facility. Where was Pataridze then? Didn’t he know what was happening? I am not insulting anyone! We were the ones who were insulted. Let them have the decency to accept our grievance as well!
A year ago, our family requested an expert examination. We did not know what was happening there; at first, everything was kept secret by the executioners and that system. We did not have all the information in our hands yet. When we found out, we appealed to this institution, the Public Defender, and everyone else. They should have arranged the expert examination themselves and launched an investigation.
Where were they?
Why didn’t they conduct the expert examination themselves? Why didn’t they investigate this case? Because it did not suit them! Why, after a year, has it still not been investigated?
How difficult can it be to question 10–12 perpetrators? Let them feed that nonsense to their supporters, whom they deceive and mislead.
Let all those responsible for violence resign - Pataridze [Giorgi Pataridze, Director General of the Special Penitentiary Service], Trapaidze [Shota Trapaidze, Director of the Rustavi High-Risk Prison], and his executioners as well! This is my demand. This is not an isolated case; there are numerous cases in prisons. You are carefully hiding it for now, but that mine you are sitting on will explode,” Irma Davitadze said.
It should be recalled that Giorgi Davitadze, a convicted prisoner at Rustavi No. 6 Penitentiary Facility, made a statement at the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, accusing prison guards of rape. According to him, the incident took place in the de-escalation room and involved several individuals; he claimed that “everything can be seen on the cameras.”
The Special Penitentiary Service also responded to the matter, calling the allegation disinformation. According to the Penitentiary Service, “there was no violence of any kind against Davitadze, let alone sexual violence.”
