Giorgi Sioridze: We are prepared for any possible development of events and have contingency plans

Giorgi Sioridze, one of the leaders of Strong Georgia - Lelo, has announced that the party’s Political Council will meet today to discuss the situation and determine specific steps to take if a decision is made to ban opposition parties.

According to Sioridze, Georgian Dream will have to pay a heavy political price both domestically and internationally.

“Banning political parties does not simply mean prohibiting organizations and preventing opposition politicians from engaging in party activities. Through this process, [Bidzina] Ivanishvili has decided to deprive approximately one million voters of their choice.

For this, Georgian Dream will have to pay a very heavy political price both domestically and internationally, which will unfortunately also harm our country. This will affect visa-free travel to the European Union, Georgia’s EU candidate status, and numerous other privileges enjoyed by our citizens.

However, for Georgian Dream and everyone who participates in Ivanishvili’s criminal scheme, this will result in a very harsh judgment from both Georgian society and the international community, including personal sanctions.

The most important thing is that no one, including Ivanishvili, can stop the Georgian people’s struggle for freedom, independence, and a Western-oriented course. We are allies of the Georgian people in this cause, and we have no intention of stopping.

As for Strong Georgia - Lelo, we are fully prepared for any possible development of events and have contingency plans. However, since the process has accelerated and is moving forward at an expedited pace, the Political Council of Strong Georgia - Lelo will meet today to discuss the situation once again. After that, we will determine our specific next steps,” Sioridze stated.
