Grigol Gegelia: Today we are officially addressing the political institutions of the European Union, the United States and the international community to find a way and help Georgian democracy in this time of hardship, when Ivanishvili’s regime has decided to liquidate the state

Today “Strong Georgia – Lelo” is addressing, through official foreign communication, the political institutions of the European Union, the United States of America and the entire international community, so that the international community immediately finds every opportunity and way to help Georgian democracy in this severe time of hardship, when Ivanishvili’s regime has decided in an accelerated manner to liquidate the Georgian state, – this was stated by the Foreign Secretary of “Lelo – Strong Georgia”, Grigol Gegelia, responding to the scheduling of the consideration processes of the constitutional complaint prepared regarding the ban on opposition parties.

According to him, “Strong Georgia – Lelo” is intensively working to protect the interests of every citizen and the right of choice following the constitutional complaint, “the satisfaction of which will cause the greatest damage to every citizen of Georgia”.

“We officially call on the international community to act and take decisive measures so as not to allow the destruction of democracy, pluralism and pro-European political parties in a candidate state for European Union membership.

We call on the international community to use every measure and step established by international law, international practice and experience in order to increase pressure on this externally imposed anti-Georgian regime and to protect the interests of the freedom-loving and peace-loving Georgian people.

The process underway today is an attack by the Russian regime on the entire Georgian nation, because political parties reflect the will expressed by this nation, the Georgian nation, the Georgian people – the choice of hundreds of thousands and, in total, more than a million Georgians,” – stated Grigol Gegelia.

In Grigol Gegelia’s assessment, the abolition of a political party means not only the abolition of the party, but also the abolition and rejection of the political will expressed by its voters and, at a minimum, the unconstitutional declaration of half of the nation.

“The statements made in recent days testify that the European Union firmly supports the Georgian people and their European future, and we are confident that at this decisive moment in our country’s historical struggle they will turn these words of support into real, effective assistance, because today Georgia is under hybrid attack and the effective support of the international community has never been more important and more critical than today.

At the same time, we call on every member and supporter of ‘Georgian Dream’, every link of this system, to fully understand the extremely heavy responsibility and crime that they are now committing against the Georgian nation and the Georgian state. Every person who today is signing the formalization of dictatorship must clearly understand that no participant in this process, which is extremely harmful to the country, will escape either political or legal responsibility – the extremely heavy responsibility that participation in their greatest crime places upon them.

The struggle for a free, democratic Georgia is the historical struggle of this nation, in which it has never been defeated and will not be defeated now either!” – stated Grigol Gegelia.
