Shalva Papuashvili: Let us recall what Macron was saying when Georgian police officers were being attacked, and what he says when they are trying to overthrow France - no one expects a change of behavior from Brussels anymore, as it was written on one famous card: “Everything is clear”

No one expects a change of behavior from today’s Brussels anymore, — Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili writes on social media.

As Shalva Papuashvili notes, for seven years Brussels has been watching not only violence, but also attempts to overthrow the government, and has never once condemned the violence.

“We condemn the violence in Tirana and other cities of Albania, including the setting of fire to buildings, attacks on state institutions, and the destruction of public and private property” — this is the European Commission’s statement of 18 October regarding the events that developed in Albania.

We expected exactly the same statement from the European Union:

On 20 June 2019, when the collective “National Movement” tried to storm the Parliament and overthrow the government.

In November 2020, when the collective “National Movement,” having lost the elections, tried to storm the Central Election Commission, disrupt the elections, and overthrow the government.

In March 2021, when the collective “National Movement,” together with the wanted Nika Melia, locked themselves in the party’s headquarters and threatened to overthrow the government.

In June 2022, when the collective “National Movement” and the “NGOs” controlled from abroad tried to overthrow the government.

In April 2023, when during the attempt by the collective “National Movement” and the “NGOs” controlled from abroad to overthrow the government, for the first time in the history of Georgia, they tried to burn a person alive with a Molotov cocktail.

In October 2024, when the collective “National Movement,” having lost the elections, and the “NGOs” controlled from abroad tried to storm the Parliament Palace and overthrow the government.

In October 2025, when the collective “National Movement” and the “NGOs” controlled from abroad tried to disrupt the local self-government elections, storm the President’s Palace, and overthrow the government.

For seven years Brussels has been watching not only violence, but also attempts to overthrow the government, and has never once — I emphasize, never once — condemned this violence.

On the contrary, after every unsuccessful attempt at violence and overthrow of the government, Brussels attacked Georgia and thereby covered up the issue of the responsibility of the violent groups.

As it was written on one famous old card — “Everything is clear.” Everything has been clear for a long time.

No one expects a change of behavior from today’s Brussels anymore. However, against the background of the events taking place in the world, Georgia will always remain a living exposure of Brussels’ hypocrisy and double standards.

This time let us recall what President Macron was saying when Georgian police officers were being attacked and they were trying to overthrow Georgia, and what he says when French police officers are being attacked and they are trying to overthrow France,” Shalva Papuashvili writes.
