Irakli Kobakhidze on the parties to be banned: For us it might have been easier to win the next elections with these worn-out faces - however, the main thing is the interests of the people and the recovery of the political system - their days are numbered!

Subjectively, for us it might have been more interesting to preserve the existing spectrum — with these worn-out faces it might have been easier for us to win the next elections, — Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze stated while speaking about the lawsuit related to the ban of opposition parties, the consideration of which the Constitutional Court will begin tomorrow, 21 October.

According to Kobakhidze, when filing the lawsuit “Georgian Dream” was guided not by personal subjective interests, but by the interests of the country and the Georgian people, which consist in the recovery of the political system.

“Their days are numbered; we have a very clearly formulated lawsuit submitted to the Constitutional Court. I will also say one thing in connection with this lawsuit — subjectively, for us it might have been more interesting to preserve the existing spectrum; every time we defeat very easily this radical united opposition force, the so-called opposition, which in reality is an agency. With these worn-out faces it might have been easier for us to win the next elections; however, here the main thing is not our subjective interests — the main thing is that it is in the interests of the Georgian people to recover the political system and to recover the democratic system. Accordingly, when we submitted the lawsuit to the Constitutional Court, we proceeded not from our subjective interests, but from the objective interests of Georgian society and our country,” Kobakhidze stated.
