Public Defender’s Office: A representative of the Public Defender visited Giorgi Peikrishvili - according to the accused, he is being held alone in his cell; he also stated that, at this stage, he has no complaints regarding security issues

A representative of the Public Defender personally visited Giorgi Peikrishvili at Penitentiary Establishment No. 8. The Office of the Public Defender released a statement regarding this, responding to reports about physical violence allegedly committed against the prisoner, Giorgi Peikrishvili.

“Given the high public interest, the Public Defender’s Office is providing information to the public regarding the actions taken in relation to the case of a remand prisoner, Giorgi Peikrishvili.

On October 25, 2026, the Public Defender’s hotline received a message concerning alleged ill-treatment of Giorgi Peikrishvili at Penitentiary Establishment No. 8, along with a request to visit him.

Following the message, a representative of the Public Defender visited Giorgi Peikrishvili in person at Penitentiary Establishment No. 8. The inmate stated that he was being held alone in his cell and that no other prisoners were housed with him. Furthermore, he indicated that he had no complaints regarding safety issues. It is worth noting that during the visit, Giorgi Peikrishvili did not express any additional requests towards the Public Defender’s Office”, reads the statement.
