Irakli Cheishvili: The opposition could not even properly mobilize 500 people – this is the achievement of a discredited, zero-rating opposition

The opposition could not even properly mobilize 500 people – they brought out their party activists and that was all they managed to gather, – Georgian Dream MP Irakli Cheishvili stated in response to yesterday’s opposition rally.

According to him, today’s opposition is stuck in the mud, they are not even having their pulse checked, and they are “completely erased from the political field.”

“The entire opposition spectrum spent a whole month organizing this rally and still could not properly mobilize even 500 people. Against this background, they make excuses that a large crowd was supposedly not necessary. Throughout the entire organizational process we saw the exact opposite – that there should have been many of them and that they should have shown force to Georgian Dream and the authorities. In general, this is the achievement of a discredited, zero-rating opposition. That rally was from beginning to end the result of the policy pursued by the enemies of our country and the radical opposition in Georgia during this period. The Georgian people are wise; they see reality and evaluate it exactly as needed. In today’s situation, the Georgian opposition, the radicals, are completely erased from the political field; these people are not even having their pulse checked. In general, today’s opposition is stuck in the mud,” Cheishvili stated.

For reference: yesterday a rally organized by the “Opposition Alliance” under the name “Georgia without Ivanishvili” was held. Opposition politicians and citizens first gathered at the first building of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, then marched to Rustaveli metro station, where several politicians addressed the public. According to the politicians, this rally will be the start of other permanent protests, and a large-scale rally is planned in Tbilisi on 28 November.
