EU Office explains the areas in which the €38 million in aid allocated by the European Union to Georgia will be spent

"The European Union has announced and allocated €38 million for projects that will continue to bring significant benefits to families and local communities across the country. This is part of our 'EU with You' approach and reflects our commitment to Georgia’s European and democratic future," Nicholas Cendrowicz, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Georgia, stated while discussing the new EU funding package for local communities. When asked who would benefit most from this support, Nicholas Cendrowicz replied:
When asked how this support would be implemented and through whom, Nicolas Sendrovich replied:
“One of the key focuses of this package is supporting farmers, rural residents, and small and medium-sized businesses. We will pay special attention to businesses and farms managed by women. Furthermore, across the country—in towns and smaller cities—we will foster the development of professional skills and create new opportunities. We are also assisting those who are returning to the country and wish to re-establish themselves here. In addition, we will provide significant support to women and girls, creating new opportunities for them—including for those who have experienced gender-based violence.”
Nicholas Cendrowicz explained how this support will reach people and communities across Georgia.
The new projects will include:
Economic opportunities in small cities and towns
Skills for a changing labour market
Socio-economic development in rural areas, especially driven by women
Better access to markets and better food quality
Actions to combat violence towards women and girls
Safe and orderly migration
Climate adaptation and disaster preparedness
Continued support for communities in Abkhazia
These opportunities will become available from the beginning of the next year.
