Levan Machavariani: The opposition never even had an action plan; there is no real opposition in our country - it is a network of agents, it was precisely these external directives that brought about their downfall

The opposition never had an action plan; they simply wait for instructions from the outside. It is these very external directives that have ruined them, leaving them in a deplorable state, Levan Machavariani, an MP from the Georgian Dream party, said in response to reports that opposition politicians are set to meet with European diplomats on November 3.
According to him, "tomorrow's meeting is likely taking place so that they can receive fresh instructions and a new set of talking points."
Machavariani asserts that the fact that opposition representatives "heeded external directives and effectively threw their mandates back in the faces of their own voters is one of the primary reasons they find themselves in such a deplorable state today."
"The opposition never even had an action plan; the most regrettable part is that there is no real opposition in our country. Instead, there is a network of agents that doesn't even know what it will talk about tomorrow—they have to show up just to receive fresh instructions on how to proceed. Regardless of the issue, we see the same pattern repeating. During the 2024 elections, the opposition didn't take to the streets, didn't travel to the regions, and didn't engage with the public. From start to finish, they spent their time in various foreign capitals, and their entire election campaign was effectively orchestrated from abroad. Various countries sent delegations here to stand at rallies and make statements in support of the opposition. They have absolutely no connection to the public, they formulate no agenda of their own, and they simply wait for instructions from the outside. It is precisely these external directives that have been their undoing, leaving them in a dire state. Their approval ratings have effectively vanished—they are hovering very close to zero. This was best illustrated by an IRI study that they didn't even publish—they were that embarrassed by it. Why is all this happening?! The fact that they heeded external dictates and instructions—and, pardon the expression, effectively threw their mandates back in the faces of their own voters—is one of the reasons they find themselves in such a deplorable state today. Their true nature has been exposed; the vast majority of our society knows that they are controlled from the outside—and, naturally, such parties are of no use to the Georgian people," stated Machavariani.
For reference, reports indicate that opposition representatives are set to meet with European diplomats on November 3. Leaders from some of the opposition parties also met with ambassadors accredited to Georgia on October 20.
