"We have repeatedly heard an attitude from Brussels: either you submit to me, or I will constantly be in a regime where we exert pressure on Georgia — this is the main message we received in this report," stated First Vice-Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski in response to the European Commission's enlargement report.

According to him, "it is regrettable that there was no preliminary discussion of this together with the relevant structures of the Georgian government."

"There are three main tasks and directions that emerged in the report. On the positive side, they say that there is economic growth and positive trends in terms of the economy, but the stability causing this is not evaluated in any way. The second issue is the unquenchable desire to seize control of the judiciary, because their favorites cannot win elections. The third issue is foreign affairs, which supposedly do not align with the policy of the European Union—which called on us to enter into an economic confrontation with the Russian Federation, not to have ties with China, not to grow trade relations with them, and not to have the policy we have with specific countries with which we have strategic relations. The main topic that is pushed forward is that allegedly the detention and arrest of people is happening arbitrarily. These issues as a whole encompass and determine the attitude we have repeatedly heard from Brussels: either you submit to me, or I will constantly be in a regime where we exert pressure on Georgia. This is the main message we heard in this report," Volski stated.
