Suspect arrested in connection with the killing of two brothers in Lambalo village formally charged

The Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged the individual arrested in connection with the murder of two brothers in the village of Lambalo on November 5.

The information was released by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.

“An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the accused, motivated by revenge over a previous conflict, decided to murder three brothers.

On November 5 of this year, in the village of Lambalo, Sagarejo Municipality, the accused fired several shots at the brothers using a registered firearm loaded with military-grade ammunition that had been illegally acquired. Two of the brothers died at the scene from gunshot wounds, while the bullets missed the third brother.

The shooting also endangered the life and health of another individual who was with the brothers at the time. The accused fled the scene but was soon apprehended by law enforcement officers.

The individual has been charged under Article 19-109, paragraphs ‘b’ and ‘l’, and Article 109, paragraphs ‘b’ and ‘l’, of the Criminal Code of Georgia (attempted intentional murder of more than two persons and intentional murder of two persons using a means that deliberately endangers the life or health of others), as well as Article 236, paragraphs 3 and 4 (illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of ammunition).

The charges carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

The Prosecutor’s Office has already applied to the court requesting pre-trial detention as a preventive measure,” the statement reads.
