Ramaz Sakvarelidze – ‘The opposition has unintentionally lost the motive of coming into power’

‘We have seen more many candidates in the previous elections, but majority of them had been unknown for the society. However, this time the difference was rather significant one because there had been many weighty candidates with high ratings. The government’s concern is natural trying to hinder the concentration of the votes in a single candidate. As for the opposition, there was appearing natural question: if we want unity, why do we fail to unite? The unity of the opposition would have been non-profitable for the opponent powers of the government. I suppose the opposition has unintentionally lost the motive of coming into power’, - the political expert Ramaz Sakvarelidze states in the interview to ‘Kviris Palitra’ under the headline ‘The opposition may have unintentionally lost the motive of coming into power’ / ‘People will come out in the streets if there are sufficient protest moods’ / ‘Our Anti-Russian rhetoric will soon be unacceptable for America’.

‘The expert of one of the international pr companies told me a strange story: he had been invited in Byelorussia by the opposition for assistance. This person was surprised for the opposition spent much money listening to his advices but at last, they said: ‘do not make us gaining a victory in the elections; our interests are already satisfied’. ‘Participation for participation’ is needed by the politicians to be always in the centre of the society alongside with the political elite’, - Ramaz Sakvarelidze says to the correspondent of the publication.

‘Besides, if the ‘qualified threshold’ is overcome, sums will be segregated from the budget. The factor seems to be sufficient for certain political powers for they might meet with fatal dangers at the above levels. I am speaking about bearing the responsibility of correcting the previous government’s mistakes. I do not accuse Georgian politicians of not wishing to come into power but they seem not to be encouraged to bear the further responsibilities. Therefore, the opposition may have lost the motive of coming into power at the present stage’, - the respondent of the publication continues.

‘I doubt the present picture of the elections, despite the statements of the experts and the ambassadors that these elections are the test of democracy, to be different from the ‘previous tests’. If a teacher does not want to see the mistake of a student, he or she will not see it anyway. However, if a teacher wishes to see such mistake, he or she might fail a student at all. Nevertheless, we should emphasize that the situation is different today. The West speaks strictly. The criticism is obvious after European economics started breathing with Russian gas. Today the USA seems to be the only buttress for Georgia not the EU. However, Washington has already published the foreign-political platform where Russia, China and India are its key partners. Supposedly, our Anti-Russian rhetoric will soon be unacceptable for America. If the policy of Georgia is unacceptable for Europe and America, then the mistakes of our government will be seen, in the election field as well’, - Ramaz Sakvarelidze.

Levan Gachechiladze – ‘We failed to end up the elections gained with our blood and battle’

‘I went to the elections at 08.00 am. I did not want to be shown up publicly. I shall tell you about my favorite but not now. The pided opposition participating in the elections hoping for the resignation of the present regime is wrong. That is why I shall make concrete analysis and make the decision on the methodology of the battle’, - Levan Gachechiladze, the leader of ‘Defend Georgia’ states in the interview to ‘Mteli Kvira’ under the headline Levan Gachechiladze: ‘These elections are already falsified’ / ‘The accusations with one another will strain the situation’.

‘I shall have the relations with the political powers especially those ones who did not participate in the elections after the end of the elections and make the decision about the concrete plan against Saakashvili’s regime. There is deep crisis within the opposition due to the distrusts and ambitions. If it is not the subject of public discussions, it will more aggravate’, - Levan Gachechiladze says to the correspondent of the publication.

‘I did not legitimate the elections by participation. I just protected the ballot of Levan Gachechiladze. I cannot facilitate them to falsify my vote. Besides, I tried to get away from making public statement for I did not want to express public opinion about any of the mayoral candidates’, - Levan Gachechiladze adds.

‘The greatest minus of the election campaign was the lack of trusts of gaining a victory. We failed to end up the elections gained with our blood and battle. The next week will be very interesting. There will be launched the accusations with one another. That will more strain the situation’, - the respondent says.

Gia Nodia – ‘Gulashvili will be bribed by anyone who wishes’

‘The incident taking place in TV ‘Caucasus’ was the violence carried out over media and concrete persons by extremist group ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’. ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’ is ultra rightist organization, which combines religious extremism and xenophobia. It is typical neo-fascist organization by its style and acts’, - the expert Gia Nodia states in the interview to ‘Georgian Times’ under the headline Gia Nodia: Gulashvili is the leader of neo-fascist organization.

‘There are several indicators pointing to its ties with Russia. I mean the latest contacts of Gulashvili with President Medvedev and anti-Georgian figures. Russia tries to use the orthodoxy for encouraging the pro-Western values in Georgia. ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’ operates in that very direction’, - Gia Nodia says to the correspondent of the publication.

‘The government especially get rids of any kind of confrontation with the groups appearing on behalf of the orthodoxy. Extremist groups are marginal ones everywhere… Gulashvili is obviously fascist. He plays for Russia. He had not been ‘persona non grata’ for the previous government indeed. He did not feel bad with the present government but exceeded his rights. He is the agent of the Kremlin who must be unacceptable for every government. I do not personally know him but he is unprincipled person for me who can be bribed by anyone who wishes it’.

Malkhaz Gulashvili – ‘We are persecuted for our Christian belief’

‘I am in Moscow now. I shall actuate my battle for releasing the detained members of our organization. I had the meetings with the politicians of various rank in Moscow along with the journalists. I plan meetings with Georgian Diaspora, with our Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers. I plan to hold the briefing for the international media’, - Malkhaz Gulashvili, the leader of ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’ states in the interview to ‘Asaval-Dasavali’ under the headline Malkhaz Gulashvili: ‘I intend to arrive in Tbilisi and if I am arrested it will be bad for them’.

‘The preparations for organizing the meeting with Russian Patriarch are underway. We are persecuted for our Christian belief. We have not been forgiven to fight against the abusers of Saint Virgin and Savior. I intend to arrive in Tbilisi and if I am arrested it will be bad for them. I plan to found Georgian radio in Moscow, which will report Georgian-Caucasian news. I think there will be launched national-liberty movement in Georgia after the elections where ‘People’s Orthodox Movement’ will actively involve. We shall do our best to end up the present government, which promotes pseudo-values in the country’, - Malkhaz Gulashvili says to the correspondent of the publication.

‘The society will prepare for radical battle… They made us to involve in politics themselves. Saakashvili does his best to preserve powers. I suppose Burjanadze, Noghaideli and Gachechiladze will set up strong political alliance, which confronts the government. Irakli Okruashvili also plans to launch serious battle. His fight will be aggressive playing the decisive role in the processes. There will be launched serious processes ion the country after the elections’.
