“If a common defense system is actually formed in Georgia’s breakaway enclave of Abkhazia, we will officially lose this region in December”

"Our desire to move closer to the EU determines Russia’s plans in terms of Georgia. Experts presume that against this background, when “green men” overran Ukraine, when Russia has succeeded in annexing this country, when signs of Russia’s intention to militarily intervene in Moldova has already surfaced, its next target can easily be Georgia.

Gen. Philip Breedlove NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe thinks that the members of the Alliance must get ready to repel Russia’s aggression,” reports the Rezonansi gazette.

“Europe can see through to Russia plans, and it knows perfectly well that this country is getting ready “to attack its victims from ambush.” Even in February, this year, they surreptitiously infiltrated their military units in the Crimean peninsula. In addition, in the eastern regions of Ukraine, they spurred the Russian ethnic minorities’ rebellion. If Russia triggers this “hybrid war” again in the member states of the Alliance, NATO will be forced to comply with article 5 and adopt effective measures against this state by responding militarily to its aggression,” announced Mr. Breedlove who does not exclude that Russia’s next target may turn out to be Moldova,” says the article.

"It’s really difficult to predict Russia’s steps… It should be noted that these “green men” were first sent to Georgia. In the light of this fact, Russia can direct its overwhelming aggression against us any time. However, the acting Georgian authorities are attempting to patch up relations with Russia which is why it has held back from applying pressure against us so far. In addition, at this point in time, Georgia is not on the path to NATO membership. However, we have clearly seen that as soon as the association agreement was signed, Russia announces immediate import ban on our products. Thus, anything on earth can occur in Putin’s head – no one knows what will be his next step,” states historian Teimuraz Papaskiri.

“Moldova also stands a strong chance to share Ukraine’s fate… As for Georgia, Russia is pursuing creeping annexation policy here; now it is annexing Abkhazia from Georgia step by step. In December, Putin and Khajimba are expected to sign an agreement that will finally result in Abkhazia’s annexation by making this region an integral constituent element of Russia’s legal space,” maintains military expert Vakhtang Maisaia.

“Russia’s taken steps in Georgia’s breakaway enclave of Abkhazia are not a far cry from those it has already taken in Crimea. In Crimea, they will form an operative group that will independently fulfill its tasks. Similar group may also be created in Abkhazia and this will finally result in its annexation. What else can I say regarding this issue? If a common defense system is actually formed here, Georgia will officially lose Abkhazia in December. And we’d better start voicing concerns over this issue. In this way Russia will respond to the Wales Summit outcome which has granted Georgia a privileged status.

The executive Government cannot put politics aside to negotiate with really pressing challenges -- Gia Khukhashvili

How many times can history be repeated; is this spiral endless? How many times can allies pose as one another’s enemies? How long can they typecast each and every man who is not in their good books as Russia’s agents? Even today, the people who dare and criticize the present authorities are deemed to be the Nationals or their adherents. This behavior is purely idiotic and has absolutely nothing to do with the country’s interests. Whether this way or that the actual fact is that the present authorities are better that the former political biggies. However, “a bit better” Government cannot serve as remedy for all our ills. The people will always pass criticism on the Government, and they must take kindly to objective criticism; this really suits the interests of the authorities,” maintains political expert Gia Khukhashvili in his interview with the Akhali Taoba gazette.

“Criticism is a driving force… When you are an object of criticism, you make fewer mistakes. However, if the Government dismisses this criticism, if it gets this phrase “if you don’t stand with me, you are in cahoots with my foes,” to its head, this will bring us nothing good. Precisely because of this morbid reasoning, the people crusaded against Saakashvili’s Government. Our authorities must drop this corrupt practice once and for all; they must stop forming an image of an enemy. This is immensely dangerous; this has nothing to do with democracy; this is just a desire to build an authoritative country,” asserts the respondent.

To the question whether the Dream Government managed to live up to the people’s expectations, the expert answers:

“I will directly say to you, no, they have not! They spend too much time and exertion on politics and are inapt to deal with the people’s problems, handle really paramount issues. And frankly speaking, I cannot say that they are good at making snap or right decisions; neither can I say that they are distinguished with political savvy or creativeness. However, ome positive changes have been brought about in the country but no effective steps to dismantle Saakashvili’s corrupt regime have been taken thus far. Moreover, they are not ready for radical changes and I would say that they are even attempting to maintain Saakashvili’s legacy…” concludes Mr. Kakhishvili.

US will train Georgian military to help us repel aggression from Islamic states and Russia

"The US senate has discussed the bill implying granting Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova with the main US partner status without NATO membership. In the words of the PM, Georgia is a number 1 strategic partner of the US without this legislation, and nothing is new regarding this. Although the specialists hold different opinions regarding this issue; as military expert Giorgi Tavdgiridze says, this legislation will lay foundation for different projects which will be executed in Georgia and which will bring it closer to the US,” reports the Rezonansi gazette.

“They have started to pursue really trenchant policy. A confrontation between the West and Russia which is on the verge of launching a war has pushed the US to elaborate an action plan that has resulted in the promulgation of a new legislation. Now, the US Administration can easily make a decision of providing the three countries with military and financial assistance. Even the title of the legislation speaks off their intention to provide these three countries with assistance despite the fact that they are not the members of the alliance,” maintains Mr. Tavdgiridze

“The legislation on partnership mainly implies military backing; talks regarding the allocation of million dollars for this purpose are already underway. The US has already donated financial resources to our country to boost our military system. This system is likely to advance in all the three states. Military instructors will enter these countries and start military trainings there soon. In the beginning of September, the US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel entered Georgia and expanded on this subject. Hagel visited Turkey too; his visit there served the purpose of creating the anti-Islamic Coalition here; as it appears, they are now placing bets on Georgia. Dangers from Islamic states are, unfortunately, posed for our country too. Remember that in Abkhazia, the representatives of Islamic Caliphate have already emerged,” states the military expert.
