They have presented us with an absolutely biased resolution drafted by some ingenuous leaders of the EU Public Party

"A disputed resolution stimulating discrepancy and producing vague results, this is what the people think regarding the document by the EU that has triggered overwhelming dissatisfaction from the public. The resolution has mainly shed light on the weak points of the Government and has directed rather harsh criticism against them; however, the Dream Government tries to keep its composure by ensuring themselves that nothing is particularly alarming about the document. The Government is sure that the document is redolent with the influence of Europe’s public party that has always been loyal to the National Movement. As for the Nationals, they have defined the resolution as “caustic” and declared that it has brought all problems the country faces today to light,” reports the Rezonansi gazette.

“Some politicians claim that the resolution has disappointed them as the document strongly suggests that it is a product of the “lobbyists’ reasoning “and thus the necessity to take its recommendations into consideration does not really exist. However, others allege that it reflects the complete reality. The EU has reportedly passed the resolution regarding Georgia by 103 votes; with only 27 deputies voting against it. Shortly after that, the resolution was published on the official webpage of the EU parliamentary Assembly,” says the article.

“The resolution says that the election that was held in Georgia 2 years ago was a watershed moment in the country’s history and thanks to that, the Georgian people have managed to change the Government peacefully by toeing with democracy. “We must congratulate all the political powers on this great achievement as these elections have set a good example for the entire region,” reads the document. However, its drafters have also expressed their concern due to the fact that the pre-election tensions very often overshadowed a great number of positive changes having occurred in Georgia’s democratic environment. The Assembly has also strongly approved the Government’s move to make the Court an independent body, however, it also underlines that while dealing with some sensitive cases they have made some serious mistakes and the necessity to eliminate the shortfalls having recently been detected must be met in the immediate future. In addition, the document also disapproves of the Government’s widely used practice of pre-trial detentions and says that this practice must be employed as a last resort. The Assembly has also voiced its concern over the acting Georgian authorities’ determination to incarcerate the former high ranking officials; as per them, these ongoing prosecutions against them are politically motivated…,” reads the paper.

“The representatives of Georgia’s parliamentary delegation have defined the aforementioned resolution as “controversial.” One of the members of the delegation, Tedo Japaridze, declared that he cannot define the resolution as “tragic” and there is absolutely no need to dramatize the situation,” reads the paper.

“However, the Nationals’ hold absolutely different views… “This document has thrown light on all problems which the country faces today which have been posed for us after the billionaire tycoon came into power. Prosecution against political rivals, politically motivated charges against them, free violence, the Government’s move to seize the property of the ex-President and his family members. The document has highlighted all these issues and this is absolutely natural. The resolution only gives recommendations to us but it is obviously worth voicing concerns over as the present developments inside the country do not really help us to remain steadfast to the taken path to the EU,” announced Giga Bokeria. Although one of the leader of the parliamentary majority and the representative of Georgia’s delegation, Eka Beselia, has pinned blame on the representatives of Europe’s public party and declared that the resolution that passes the criticism on the present authorities has been drafted due to them,” writes the author of the article.

“This resolution has been drafted thanks to “Europe’s Public Party” and the clique of Nationals who are still there and who have not dropped their long-cherished practice of bribing certain officials. Of course, this is really shameful! The National Movement must bear in mind that a decision from such a mammoth organization against Georgia first of all inflicts harm on the Georgian people and the country, not the Government. We don’t have to be particularly concerned how the EU public party will evaluate the ongoing developments in Georgia; we must mainly be interested in our people’s opinion. Thus, some recommendations of the resolution are worth taking into account; however, overall it gives us recommendations and the people as well as our Government are absolutely entitled to pass these recommendations by. I don’t really think that this resolution will have a negative impact on our relations with NATO,” states political expert Igor Kveselava.

Another Political expert Korneli Kakachia also shares Mr. Kveselava’s position and declares that the document will not have any major negative influence on our foreign relations as neither the EU nor NATO pays great attention to such documents,” concludes the author of the article.

One of the leaders of the Georgian Dream Organization in the U.S. gives an interview to the Alia gazette

"We have fewer complaints for Irakli Gharibashvili; we know that he cannot frequent us every now and again. Certainly the Georgian’s move in the U.S. to berate him and typecast him as a murderer is far from being good; however, I cannot get what has surprised the Georgian Dream members – have they really though that such an incident could not have taken place in America? They have lost all their leverages including their assets as well as the immigrants’ benevolence. They have given the cold shoulder to those people who have gone to the gallows to put them in power; they have ignored their adherents including me and the initiative group that worked in a 24-hour mode to pursue their interests. These people have passed through different troubles; however, instead of appreciating their acts, the Government has completely ignored them; as a result of this, nihilism emerged in the people and precisely this has emboldened the Nationals to berate Gharibashvili and drag his name through the mud,” states head of one of the organizations of “Georgian Dream” in America, Anton Jgamadze, in his interview with the Alia gazette.

“We lost the presidential elections of 2013 to the Nationals here, while we enjoyed a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections of 2012. It took the Nationals only 9 months to defeat the Coalition representatives. And if the situation does not change for the better and if we continue losing our levers, simply think for a while, what will be the outcome of the parliamentary elections of 2016? They are simply obliged to take the urgent steps to rectify the situation – they must found a special commission, recreate the initiative groups, invite the Minister of Diaspora here…. when you lose elections to Davit Bakradze in America, you’d better hide your head in the sand… Take Paata Abjindadze for instance – he is the Nationals’ bulwark who does everything in his power to side the people and crush the Georgian Dream Coalition. Saakashvili, Shashkin, Kakha Lomaia, Temur Iakobashvili and others “are always in commission”; they hold different meetings and actively hold their campaigns,” declares Mr. Jgamadze.

“What else do you want Saakashvili to do? He haunts different countries, grants orders and awards to the people… As many as 300 people are at the service of the Nationals today; these people will stop at nothing on earth to comply with their orders and instructions. Plus, they have 200 people in reserve and believe me, this is a really great asset of theirs in New-York. We had many more advocates but 3 core “movements” surfaced here not so long ago: 1. the National Movement; 2. the National Movement fraught with those former Georgian Dream members who have a chip on their shoulder and who are angry with the Dream Government leaders and 3. the Georgian Dream members who are overcome with nihilism. And do you know why this has happened? Do you think these people wanted money or urged them to give them remuneration? No and No. The only thing that they longed to receive was their attention; they have refused to communicate with their loyal supporters though,” says the respondent.

“When Irakli Gharibashvili visited the U.S, he mainly met with the VIP people, the representatives of the upper crust. I personally talked with him after the meeting; he managed to find a few minutes for me too. Believe it or not, our PM did not even have the slightest idea that one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream organization resided in America. When I explained everything to him, he was first surprised, then looked at me for a while and promised that he would contact me one day. This day has not yet come though,” concludes the respondent.

Mikheil Saakashvili is getting ready to hold protest events -- Davit Darchiashvili

"I have recently met with President Saakashvili in the USA where he has been deemed to be a President thus far despite the fact that he was ousted. By the way, our ex-President is in an immensely high mood; he feels himself well and brims with energy. I spent 2 days in his apartment. I have met with the representatives of Georgian Diaspora in Pennsylvania, where these people have their own vineyards. They received me immensely warmly …,” announces one of the members of the National Movement, deputy Davit Darchiashvili in his interview with the Akhali Taoba gazette.

“Naturally, we have talked regarding politics, international environment, the problems Ukraine has recently faced as well as our internal affairs. Saakashvili thinks that the Georgian Government has upended the democratic environment in our country… Protest events are something quite natural in a democratic society. If you don’t like something you are obviously entitled to protest against it,” maintains Davit Darchiashvili.

“If not for Ivanishvili, the Georgian Dream supporters would have never dared to take steps in our political arena. Absolutely nothing happens in our country without this man. It’s immensely deplorable that these people cannot simply understand that they must first attempt to work everything out with peaceful debates. They are always eager to work it out with their fists. Violence begets violence – this is a constant. We need to repel the aggression they direct against us. Even recently, they raided the Independent Zone Office and the police did not even try to adequately react to this terrible incident,” maintains the respondent.

To the question if he can say anything positive about the present authorities, he answers:

“Unfortunately no, I cannot say anything positive regarding them. They are imbued with hatred and are moved by a strong desire to level their opponents to the ground.”
